The property and the club operate as two commitments. You can close on a home in one of Gulf Harbour's 22 neighborhoods before you decide the club is part of your plan. [Some buyers join before they've even moved in](https://www.gulfharbour.com/blog/discover-home-how-one-couple-found-the-perfect-life-at-gulf-harbour). This distinction matters most to buyers who want to feel certain about a community before they commit to it. Gulf Harbour leaves it on the buyer's terms. ## Living Here First Residents who haven't yet joined still get a real sense of what Gulf Harbour is. Waterfront streets, walking paths, neighbors who wave from their driveways all come with the address. Over time, residents start noticing [golf carts headed to morning tee times](https://www.gulfharbour.com/blog/discover-home-how-one-couple-found-the-perfect-life-at-gulf-harbour). Tennis matches wrapping up as the sun sets over the marina. Neighbors mentioning a dinner they had at the clubhouse the night before. Seeing that eventually prompts the membership conversation. Prospects who see the community in daily motion know, by the time they apply, exactly what they're joining. ## One Family's Timeline [Rob and Lisa Whitt](https://www.gulfharbour.com/blog/from-gulf-harbour-residents-to-members-rob-and-lisa-whitt) bought their home at Gulf Harbour before they became members. They lived in the community and got to know the area and their neighbors before they joined themselves. Their decision to join came down to timing that made sense for their life. Their path isn't unusual at Gulf Harbour. It's a way people arrive at membership comfortably, and important to know about if you're weighing a home purchase against a club commitment. ## Join When You're Ready There's no single signal that tells a resident it's time to join. For some, it's a first invitation to a member event, while for others, it might be watching a neighbor's kids learn[tennis on the Har-Tru courts](https://www.gulfharbour.com/blog/gulf-harbours-tennis-program-a-closer-look). Membership at Gulf Harbour is built to accommodate that decision whenever it arrives. Golf and Sports Membership options exist for residents ready to step further into the community, and the application process moves at a pace that matches the buyer. If you're still weighing a home purchase here, exploring the neighborhoods and price points can help you picture both parts of life at Gulf Harbour, [the home and the club](https://www.gulfharbour.com/real-estate). Residents can live in the community for months or years before becoming members, then join once the fit feels right. The two decisions are independent, so there's no clock running on either one.
